Breeds - American Flemish Giant

Wildood Buster (Sandy, Buck), Wildwood Charlotte (Sandy, Doe)
HISTORY: Originally
the Flemish Giant was recorded in Belgium with records dating back to the
16th Century.
It was stated in the records that the rabbits were 4 times bigger than the
average rabbit and that they came in various colours. This is when the Giant
gene was noticed and obviously encouraged with breeding the biggest rabbits
together to continue the Giant lines we see today. These rabbits then became
very popular as meat rabbits and other countries started breeding then and
in the early 1800s made their way to the Americas were they were very popular
and started being exhibited in around 1860s in small agricultural shows.
The breed has been further developed and is the large robust animal we see
today.
