HISTORY: The Chinchilla is of French origin and was first bred by Christopher Wren. Chinchilla's come from a cross between wild rabbits, the Himalayan and the Beveren. The Chinchilla was first showed in 1913, but didn't arrive in the USA or the UK until 1919. There is also a German version of the Chinchilla which is commonly known as the Chinchilla-Giant. The Chinchilla Giganta is double the weight of the original Chinchilla. The fur of both the original Chinchilla and the Chinchilla Giagnta is soft, fine and dense. The Chinchilla Giganta as it is known today was developed from the Chinchilla-Giant of France, which was developed by M. Dybowski. It was devloped for fur and meat production.

AVERAGE WEIGHT: max weight for adult 5.44kgs.

COLOURS: The fur is dark blue in colour at the base, and its intermediate colour is pearl, with a narrow black edging. The dark blue base colour is wider than the pearl and the top colour is grey with bright black hair ticking.
