HISTORY: This breed originated in Holland but is of British, Polish and Dutch ancestry. Netherland Dwarf's are also known as the European Pole, and the German Hermelin. In 1948 the Pol arrived in the United Kingdom, but to avoid confusion with the native Pole it was re-named the Netherland Dwarf. Netherland Dwarf's come in a large variety of colours (see below). They were recognised in the Netherlands in 1907, only red-eyed and blue-eyed whites were known at that time.
