The Beautiful Bunnies Grooming Page
Grooming: Basic tips:
Short hair breeds: The Short hair breeds generally don’t need any brushing or combing to keep their fur neat and clean. Rabbits are very clean creatures by nature and groom themselves a lot of the time. But fur care is not the only thing we should be thinking of when it comes to the statement of grooming. Pet rabbit owners should be checking their rabbits nails and clipping them once a month if needed checking ears for wax build up or mites and treating appropriately, looking at the teeth of their pet to make sure that the teeth are not growing to rapidly and the rabbit has toys to wear the teeth growth down in a natural manner. If the rabbit owner would like to bond with their rabbit I would suggest that a soft baby brush be used and the bunny be nursed on your lap when you are in a relaxed state and brush bunny gently, this is a wonderful bonding technique and your bunny will love you for it. Just remember it may take a few turns before bunny really settles and sits without struggle.
Long Hair breeds: The long hair breed is not recommended unless you can really devote an hour or so each week divided into small sessions to pluck out small matts/knots and brush, comb and blow out tangles from the coat of course the other checks must be performed as well. It is very difficult to explain brushing techniques but if you wish to call or visit for a lesson you are welcome to contact me and I will assist you to the best of my ability.
