Unfortunately not all the rabbits that come into SA Rabbit Rescue are suitable for adoption. This may be due to the animal being too ill to recover or because the previous owner(s) have not looked after their rabbit correctly. There are also many other reasons. Due the severe condition that some rabbits present to us with there is no other alternative but to euthanase these animals.

rehomed rabbits in 2008: 1001
rabbits euthanaised (for various health reasons) or died during calici outbreak: 2067
guinea pigs rescued and rehomed in 2008: 147
