I first heard about Sally and SA Rabbit Rescue in 2008 and talked to Sally about how to go about getting a friend for my housebun Roger.

On Jan 17 2010, my little storybook bunny Roger passed away with no warning from Calici. I thought Calici may be a possibility so rang Sally for advice. Sally dropped everything at 10pm that hot Sunday night to examine my other bunnies Lily & Barney (who lived with Roger, Lucy is kept separate from the other bunnies), revaccinate them, give them vitamin injections and give me advice on what to expect, how to treat them and what to watch for. She found that Lily had a temperature - her immune system was probably starting to fight off the virus, but Barney was ok. I followed Sally's instructions and Lily pulled through. I know without a shadow of a doubt that Lily would not be here today if it were not for Sally.

2 weeks later, at 1am I called her in a panic. Barney was very ill. Sally advised me what to do overnight and to get him out to her first thing - or we could go then if I wanted to. Barney made it through the night and first thing in the morning we headed out to Sally's and she found that he had a severe bladder infection and crystals. The stress of losing Roger made him sick and with my focus on Lily and trying to keep her well I missed the signs that something was brewing. Barney stayed with Sally for 5 days due to the level of care that he required - I was not able to provide that. He had 24 hour expert care from Sally, who truly loves him. He could not have been in better hands. Again, had it not been for Sally, Barney would not be here now. He now has a lovely wifey bun who came from Sally and they are so happy together, he's not lonely anymore like he was when we lost Roger.

I will never be able to repay Sally or thank her enough for everything she's done for me and my bunnies. I have learnt SO much from her and I know I will continue to in the future.

Thanks must also go to Dave and Elyse who share Sally with the buns and their owners without complaint, lol.

Yours sincerely,

Cathy Prigent of Aberfoyle Park

I thought I would just drop an email to let you know that our giant bunnies are doing fabulously! Stephen made a large enclosure and after a few nights of bunny socialising in our lounge room, The three went in and loved it! They jump around and play and we love them so much - Stephen and I just sit and watch them every afternoon! our kids get in the enclosure and the rabbits jump on their laps straight away, so they get many cuddles from all of us. Juliet (our first bunny, the chinchilla) now knows her name and is very placid, Diego the small male chinchilla has the most inquisitive personality and is best mates with his owner, my son seth. The gorgeous flemmish girl you gave me is doing very well also. I love her to bits because she is me in rabbit form! she is so cuddly and affectionate but she bites(not hard) as soon as you try to do something she disagrees with! She is the smallest but definately the boss of the three! Getting the rabbits was the best thing ever- even though we lost 2. Everyone in the family adores them and they love us too. Cant wait to see how big they get!
Thankyou so much for our babies and all the advice, I will stay in touch

Hi Sally,
Just wanted to say the Today Tonight show on Channel 7 ADELAIDE was fantastic. I felt good knowing there is some one like you around for the rabbits. Thank you for letting me adopt a little bunny yesterday and for making my partner and I so welcome at your home, and for letting us share with you your lovely rabbits. They are so cute hopping around the garden, I could not believe they all got on so well. Little Binks will be well loved here and I thank you again for all your help to us and for your continued love and care of the rabbits of S.A.

Hi Rabbit Lady,
Good to hear the story on Today Tonight (Adelaide) thursday 9th April. Non of the Commercial Bull just a heart warming story of a person who has a passion and cares about some thing other than them selves. Well done and keep up the good work there should be more people like you.

Re: SA Rabbit Rescue Testimonial

I first met with Sally of SA Rabbit Rescue when I was looking for a replacement bunny for one that we had lost due to illness. I found Sally’s friendly personality and helpful advice a pleasant experience given that I was still traumatised from the loss of a loved pet.
Sally has the advantage of experience when discussing rabbits and was reassuring as she knew significantly more than the vet we had attended with our sick pet. In future I will speak to Sally about any health issues relating to my rabbits, rather than the local vets who have no speciality experience with rabbits and are happy to acknowledge that.
We received two lovely rabbits from Sally as the outcome of our initial contact.

The next time I encountered Sally was when my rescued ring tail possum became unexpectedly ill while I was interstate. My mother who was caring for the possum found Sally’s number at my house and contacted her. Sally as seems to be her nature allowed my possum to come and be nursed and receive the life saving antibiotics that brought her back from the brink of death. Sally sat up until late in the night nursing our pet, with no expectation of payment, just out of her love of animals.

I was ecstatic to see my possum when I returned as I had expected her to have passed away from the description of her illness.

Unfortunately, the nature of her illness meant that she did not make a full recovery; however throughout the next couple of weeks while she was unwell, Sally never ceased giving advice and treatment as required. She consulted with Native fauna vets on our behalf and was an emotional support as we had become very attached to our possum over 4months of care and was empathetic and consoling when the she passed away, despite our combined best efforts.

In conclusion, I cannot praise the work that Sally and her family do on behalf of not only the rescue rabbits, but also the native fauna, highly enough. It is people like her that help improve the life of animals in general through their personal care and the information and advice she shares freely with the community.
